SURT.IO
Volcanic peak · 45.18°S, 336.47°W · Io
Named for Surtr, the fire giant who swallows the world in flame at the end of all things.
First observed by Voyager 1, March 1979 — a molten scar on the most violent
moon in the solar system, where tidal forces tear the surface apart and eruptions
reach 500 kilometers into the black.
